Privacy Policy

This page describes the personal data processed on eco3min.fr: what it is, why, by whom and for how long. It complements section 8 of the legal notice.

1. Data controller

The publisher of the site, a private individual (see the legal notice), reachable at [email protected].

2. The data we process

• If you sign up for the newsletter or the tracker: your email address, the list or lists you chose, the date you signed up and confirmed, the IP address used at that moment (it serves as proof of your consent and as protection against abusive sign-ups), and opens and clicks on our emails (see section 4).
• When you browse the site: your IP address and technical data (browser, pages requested), processed by the host, by the Cloudflare delivery network and by the Wordfence security tool. Audience measurement and session analysis (Google Analytics 4, Microsoft Clarity) only run if you accept them.
• If you write to us: your email address and the content of your message.

No form on the site asks for your name, postal address or payment details.

3. Why, and on what legal basis

• Sending you the monthly brief or the tracker alerts: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), collected in two steps. You enter your address, then confirm it from the email you receive.
• Measuring audience and understanding how the site is used: your consent, given or refused in the cookie banner.
• Protecting the site (attacks, automated sign-ups): the publisher’s legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
• Answering your messages: the publisher’s legitimate interest.

4. The emails you receive

No email is sent before you confirm your subscription. You then receive what you asked for: one brief a month, or an alert when the U.S. refinery record changes.

We measure, subscriber by subscriber, whether emails are opened and which links are clicked. This tells us which content gets read and lets us remove addresses that have gone inactive.

Every email contains an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately. Your address is never sold, rented or shared.

5. Who processes your data

The publisher, and the following technical providers, each for its own role:

• OVH SAS (France): hosting of the site and its database.
• Cloudflare, Inc. (United States): delivery network and protection of the site. Every visit passes through its servers.
• Automattic, through the MailPoet sending service (United States): delivery of the emails.
• Defiant, Inc., publisher of Wordfence (United States): site security.
• Google (Google Analytics 4) and Microsoft (Clarity) (United States): audience measurement and session analysis, only with your consent.

Transfers of data to the United States rely on the safeguards provided by the GDPR: the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where applicable, the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.

6. How long

• Subscription: until you unsubscribe. An unsubscribed address is kept with that status so that no mailing resumes by mistake; it is deleted on request.
• Unconfirmed sign-up: no email is sent other than the confirmation request.
• Audience measurement: trackers limited to 13 months, data kept for at most 25 months, in line with the recommendations of the CNIL, the French data protection authority.
• Messages: as long as it takes to handle your request.

7. Cookies

The cookies and trackers in use, and how to accept or refuse them, are described in the cookie policy. You can change your choice at any time from the cookie banner. Refusing audience measurement does not restrict access to any content.

8. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, object to and port your data. To exercise these rights, write to [email protected]. We reply within one month.

You may also lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in France the CNIL (cnil.fr), or the authority of the EU country where you live.

9. Changes

This page is updated whenever a tool or a practice changes. The date at the top shows the current version.
