How this works

Every series is a monthly US city average price, unaltered: real history, real continuation, nothing smoothed or reshaped. Your cursor sets the price six months ahead of wherever the real line has reached. When the real line arrives at that month, the gap is measured and scored. Inside the tolerance band is a hit and builds the multiplier, wide of it is a graze, far outside costs a segment of thread. Four consecutive months far outside and the run ends there.

The tolerance band is calibrated to the job you are actually being asked to do: it is 1.25 times the median six-month move of that series. A stretch that drifts gets a narrow band, a stretch that lurches gets a wide one, so no round is unfair by construction. The vertical axis fits what has already been revealed, never what is coming — it widens as the data arrives, which means you chase a spike upward, late, exactly as everyone did at the time.

All prices are in dollars of the day, not adjusted for inflation. Records described as the highest in the series carry that caveat. This is a record of what these prices did, not a claim about what any price will do. Nothing here is a forecast, a signal, or advice.
